05 What to expect

How your appointment typically flows.

Your appointment is performed onsite with GP review. A common procedure with a strong evidence base.

i.

Initial consultation

Your GP examines the area, discusses the procedure, takes consent and books the procedure visit if needed.

ii.

Day of procedure

Local anaesthetic is used to numb the area. The procedure itself is typically 15–45 minutes depending on complexity.

iii.

Wound care

Sutures or dressings are applied as needed. Your GP explains wound care, activity restrictions and signs to watch for.

iv.

Follow-up

Suture removal at 7–14 days. Pathology results (if biopsy taken) are reviewed at follow-up with management plan.

07 Fees & Medicare

Transparent pricing.

Standard procedure consultations are bulk billed for eligible Medicare patients. Many procedures attract additional private fees — particularly skin cancer surgeries, larger excisions and cosmetic procedures. Reception will quote at booking once the procedure type is known.

08 Questions, answered

Common questions.

Will I need a referral?
No — most minor procedures are performed by our own GPs without external referral.
Will I be awake?
Yes — local anaesthetic numbs the area only. You remain awake and comfortable throughout.
How long is recovery?
Most patients return to work the same day or next day. Larger excisions or facial procedures may require 7–14 days for full healing.
Is the lesion sent for pathology?
Almost always yes. Pathology confirms the diagnosis and guides any further treatment.
